ARTIST BIO
Monique Zhang is a Chinese-born artist living in Richmond, BC, Canada with her spouse. Her artistic practice involves working with acrylic, oil, watercolour, and selected fabrics, and her journey began at the age of 13 with an early passion for drawing and painting. Although she holds a degree in graphic design, her artistic pursuits have always been deeply rooted in fine art.
Monique’s work explores the fundamental and formative moments of childhood, drawing from her creative journey shaped by personal experiences of relocation and cultural transition. Her paintings weave together dreamlike elements with a profound sense of emotional intimacy, evoking a delicate interplay between memory and self-discovery. Currently, she is developing a series that investigates the concept of regression to childhood, reflecting on its psychological dimensions and deeper meanings.
With a distinct visual language, her paintings have been acquired by private collectors and featured in exhibitions, drawing attention for their evocative storytelling and timeless aesthetic. As she continues to expand her artistic vision, Monique remains dedicated to creating work that resonates emotional connection, offering a deeply personal yet universal experience.
